Repeated Depo-Provera injections and a meningioma diagnosis, reviewed from a downtown Los Angeles office by attorney Bejan Broukhim.
If you used the Depo-Provera contraceptive injection and were later diagnosed with a meningioma, you need a Depo-Provera lawyer in Los Angeles who will gather your injection history, read your imaging and tell you plainly whether you have a claim. Two things are reviewed first, and both usually sit in records you do not keep at home.
If you are not sure whether your history fits, a free conversation will tell you what to look for. A claim stays separate and is built on your own injection history, imaging and outcome.
The research that changed these cases was published in 2024, when a large French study in the BMJ reported that prolonged use of injectable medroxyprogesterone, the active ingredient in Depo-Provera, was associated with a materially increased risk of intracranial meningioma. European regulators responded by requiring meningioma warnings on the product. In the United States the label did not carry a comparable warning, and that gap is the heart of the allegation.
What a claim generally alleges is that the manufacturer knew or should have known of the risk and failed to warn American prescribers and patients adequately, and that your use contributed to your tumour. Both halves have to be proved. Neither is assumed. The cases are brought together before one federal judge, and they are consolidated in federal or state court rather than heard locally, so where you live in Los Angeles County does not limit the claim.
A meningioma is usually not cancerous, which leads many people to assume it is not serious. Because of where it sits, it can require brain surgery, radiation or years of monitoring, and can leave headaches, loss of vision, seizures or memory problems. The law does not measure seriousness by the word benign.
You do not have to collect all of this before calling. Broukhim Legal PC requests the records itself, and a missing record is usually something that can be obtained, not a reason to give up on a claim.
The general rule is two years from the date of injury to file a personal injury suit, under Code of Civil Procedure section 335.1. For injuries that appear later, as a meningioma often does, the two years can run from when the injury and its likely cause were, or should have been, discovered. If nobody ever explained a possible link to the injection, that date may be later than the date of diagnosis. Because the discovery date is a question of fact, have your date confirmed at the start rather than assuming the clock has run out.
A claim’s value cannot be known before the medical picture is clear. It turns on the injury, the treatment still to come and the strength of the evidence on exposure and on the warning.
No fee unless there is a recovery. Broukhim Legal PC takes injury and mass tort matters on a contingency fee, so there is nothing to pay up front and the fee is paid out of what is recovered. If nothing is recovered, no fee is owed. The fee agreement is put in writing and signed before any work starts, as California law requires, and the costs of running the case are explained in that same agreement rather than left to the end. Your first conversation is free, confidential and carries no obligation.
Claims about other products where the warning is the issue, including GLP-1 drugs, Suboxone film and chemical hair relaxers, are reviewed on the same basis. Broukhim Legal PC represents clients from its office at 550 S Hill Street in downtown Los Angeles and across Los Angeles County.

There is no single number that decides it, but these claims generally involve repeated use over about a year or more rather than one or two doses, because the published risk rises with duration. If you are near that line, the honest answer is that it depends on your records, and the records are worth pulling.
They are usually recoverable. Pharmacies, clinics, your insurer’s claims history and your primary care file all record administered injections, and a records request can reconstruct the dates across several providers and several years. Not having your own copies is not a reason to decide you have no claim.
No. Most meningiomas are not malignant, and these claims are not built on the tumour being cancer. What matters is that a meningioma was diagnosed and what it has cost you, which can include surgery, radiation, lasting neurological deficits and indefinite monitoring.
Two things are checked. First the injection history, because these claims generally involve repeated Depo-Provera injections over about a year or more, and pharmacy, clinic and insurer records can usually reconstruct the dates even from years ago. Second the imaging and the neurosurgical record showing an intracranial meningioma, and whether it was removed, treated with radiation or is being monitored. A tumour that has been watched rather than operated on is still a diagnosis. If the records do not support a claim you are told that rather than signed up. The first conversation is free, confidential and carries no obligation, and the scope of the work and the fees are agreed in writing before anything starts.
Because the strongest evidence is recent. A large study published in the BMJ in 2024 reported an increased risk of intracranial meningioma with prolonged use of injectable medroxyprogesterone, and European regulators required warnings in response. The claims follow that evidence and the absence of a comparable warning in the United States.
That is a decision for you and your prescriber, not for a law firm. Do not change or stop a prescribed medication because of something you read on a website. Ask your doctor, and keep the records of that conversation.
You will be asked for the specifics: roughly when the injections started and stopped, how often, which clinics and pharmacies, the date the meningioma was found, the treatment, and authorisation to collect your records. Those records are reviewed and you are told candidly whether the claim proceeds. If it does, it is filed, and where a coordinated proceeding exists it joins that.
