Mass tort cases for Glendale residents

Alongside injury work, Broukhim Legal PC takes on mass tort claims for people living in and around Glendale. These cases are consolidated in federal or state court rather than heard locally, so where you live does not limit them.

Where is a Glendale injury case filed, and what are the deadlines?

Under Los Angeles Superior Court Local Rule 2.3(a)(1)(A), an unlimited civil action for bodily injury or wrongful death is filed in the judicial district where the incident arose. That puts a Glendale incident in the North Central District, at the Glendale Courthouse, 600 East Broadway, or the Burbank Courthouse, 300 East Olive Avenue; the Court’s filing locator also lists the Pasadena and Alhambra courthouses as possible assignment locations. The deadline is generally two years from the date of injury under Code of Civil Procedure section 335.1, and six months to present a written claim where a public entity is involved under Government Code section 911.2, in which case the shorter deadline governs. The City Clerk’s published list of services includes a Claim for Damages Form, the City Attorney’s Litigation and Risk Management function investigates claims and brings them to disposition, claim status is checked with the City Attorney’s Office on 818-548-2080, and the Clerk’s own FAQ states that “the processing time for claims typically ranges from 9 to 12 weeks within the legal department,” so confirm the Clerk’s current filing address and accepted methods with that office before sending anything. The Glendale Beeline is a City service run under Public Works with a contract operator, so a Beeline injury runs on that same six-month clock, and because Glendale is not on the Metro A Line a rail injury here is a Metrolink matter handled by the Southern California Regional Rail Authority rather than a Metro one.

Looking for a top-rated, trusted personal injury lawyer in Glendale?

Here is what you get when you choose Broukhim Legal PC.

  • Direct access to your lawyer. Bejan Broukhim personally reviews your case and leads its strategy. You can speak directly with him about your case, and if another law firm is ever brought in, that happens only with your written consent.
  • Years of experience, fully licensed. Bejan Broukhim brings years of experience in California personal injury and mass tort law and holds an active California law license, State Bar number 183036.
  • Local knowledge of Glendale. We know how a Glendale claim works: which agency’s report it starts from, which Los Angeles Superior Court district hears it, and the six month deadline that applies when a public agency is involved. That means the early steps that protect your claim start on day one.
  • No fee unless we recover for you. You pay nothing up front. Your case is taken on a contingency fee, so the fee comes out of what is recovered, and if nothing is recovered you owe no fee. The written agreement, signed before any work starts, also explains how case costs are handled.
  • Ready for court. Every case is prepared from day one as though it will go to trial, so any settlement offer is measured against a case that is ready to be tried.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Glendale questions, answered plainly.

The short answer is that it depends on three things: whether someone else’s carelessness caused the injury, what the medical record actually shows, and whether there is insurance that reaches the loss. Those are the questions the first conversation is for. It is free, it takes about half an hour, and if there is nothing worth pursuing you will be told that rather than signed up. Bring whatever you have: the collision or incident report if one exists, photographs, the name of anyone who treated you, and your own insurance policy. In Glendale the report is not available online until seven days after the accident, so the first week is better spent on evidence than on paperwork.

The first conversation costs nothing and creates no obligation. A Glendale injury case is taken on a contingency fee, so there is nothing to pay up front and the fee is paid out of what is recovered. If there is no recovery, no fee is owed. The fee agreement is put in writing and signed before any work starts, which is what California law requires, and the costs of running the case are explained in that same agreement rather than left to the end. Ask about it on the first call.

No. No hospital in Glendale appears on the California Emergency Medical Services Authority list of designated trauma centers updated 8/25/2025. Trauma designation in this county is made by the Los Angeles County EMS Agency, and Glendale has none within its boundaries. The nearest designated centers on that list are Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, a Level II adult center, and Los Angeles General Medical Center, a Level I adult center with a Level II pediatric designation. A seriously injured person in Glendale is therefore likely to be treated outside the city, which affects where the records sit, which providers assert liens, and who has to be subpoenaed later.

The North Central District, because Local Rule 2.3(a)(1)(A) requires an unlimited civil injury or wrongful death case to be filed in the judicial district where the incident arose. The two North Central courthouses are the Glendale Courthouse at 600 East Broadway and the Burbank Courthouse at 300 East Olive Avenue. The Court’s filing locator also returns the Pasadena and Alhambra courthouses for Glendale addresses, which belong to the Northeast District, so all four can appear as possible assignment locations. The practical point is that the district is set by where the collision happened, and the building is partly a matter of assignment.

Not by the state’s comparative measure, and it would be wrong to say so. In the Office of Traffic Safety rankings for 2023, where rank 1 is the worst in the group, Glendale placed 53rd of 62 cities its size for total fatal and injury crashes, 62nd of 62 for alcohol-involved victims and 62nd of 62 for drinking drivers aged 21 to 34, the best in its group in both. The genuine exception is older people on foot: 22 victims aged 65 and over, ranked 2nd worst of 62. Glendale does maintain a Local Road Safety Plan and a Safe and Healthy Streets Plan, and the City says its camera sites were chosen using that plan together with citation and collision data.

Possibly, and if so the window to preserve it is very short. Vehicle Code section 22425 lists Glendale as one of only six designated jurisdictions in California, capped at nine systems, and expressly bars placing one on any state route, freeway or expressway. The statute requires that photographic evidence which does not result in a notice of violation “shall be destroyed within five business days after the photograph was first made.” Evidence tied to a citation may be kept for up to 60 days after final disposition, with administrative records up to 120 days, and the statute allows disclosure in response to a subpoena in an individual case. It also provides that stored photographic evidence is not an out-of-court hearsay statement, and bans facial recognition in connection with these systems. If a camera may have been looking, that is a first-week task, not a later one.
