Claims involving Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and related weight loss and diabetes drugs, reviewed from a downtown Los Angeles office.

Medical records decide these cases. Not how unwell someone felt, and not how long they took the drug, but what a clinician recorded and when. Two things matter most: that your use of the drug can be shown, and that a medical diagnosis supports the injury. If you have neither in hand today it is still worth asking, because both can often be reconstructed.
The diagnosis side usually looks like one of the following:
The drugs covered by the claims include Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Saxenda and Victoza. Nothing here means everyone who used one of them has a case, and nobody can responsibly promise you an outcome.
The lawsuits allege that the manufacturers knew, or should have known, of a risk of severe gastrointestinal injury and failed to warn patients and prescribers adequately. The conditions most often described in the filings are gastroparesis, intestinal obstruction, ileus and severe recurrent vomiting, and there are separate claims of vision loss.
Those are allegations in active litigation. The manufacturers deny them, causation is contested, and nothing has been established against them. Anyone telling you the outcome is a foregone conclusion is telling you something they do not know.
This is not a class action. Each claim stays separate, built on that individual’s own records, with their own outcome.
The prescription history matters just as much as the diagnosis: which drug, prescribed by whom, over what period, and whether it was prescribed for diabetes or for weight loss. Many people got these medicines from a weight loss clinic, through telemedicine, from a compounding pharmacy or even from another country, and have no prescription or paperwork. Use can still be shown with:
A review will also ask about other medical conditions, other medicines and any earlier stomach or bowel problems, because the manufacturers can be expected to point to them. Compounded semaglutide obtained from a pharmacy or a clinic rather than a manufacturer raises different questions, because the defendant may not be the same. We request the medical records ourselves, in Spanish as well as English, and you pay nothing up front.
Under Code of Civil Procedure section 335.1, an injury lawsuit in California generally has to be filed within two years. For injuries that appear later, the two years can run from when the injury and its likely cause were, or should have been, discovered. With a drug injury that date is often not the first day you took the medicine, and it is argued case by case. Have your date reviewed early rather than assuming time remains.
If the person who was hurt has died, Code of Civil Procedure section 377.60 sets out who may bring a wrongful death claim. The federal cases are consolidated rather than heard locally, so living anywhere in Los Angeles County does not limit the claim.
What a claim is worth cannot be known before the records are reviewed. It turns on the diagnosis, the treatment and the proof of use.
No fee unless there is a recovery. Broukhim Legal PC takes Ozempic and GLP-1 cases on a contingency fee, so there is nothing to pay up front and the fee is paid out of what is recovered. If nothing is recovered, no fee is owed. The fee agreement is put in writing and signed before any work starts, as California law requires, and it also explains how the costs of running the case are handled. Your first conversation is free, confidential and carries no obligation.
Other medicines where the warning rather than the drug is the issue are reviewed on the same basis, including Depo-Provera and meningioma and Suboxone dental decay. Broukhim Legal PC is at 550 S Hill Street in downtown Los Angeles, and a claim is reviewed before anything is filed. Nobody can answer that from a conversation, and you should be wary of anyone who does. These claims are assessed on records: which drug, over what period, and what a clinician diagnosed and documented. The honest process is to collect the records, review them against the criteria the litigation is using, and tell you plainly whether it proceeds. Sometimes the answer is no, and you are told that rather than signed up.
No. An MDL groups cases before one judge so that the shared questions, expert evidence, document production and general causation, are handled once instead of thousands of times. Your claim stays yours. It is not merged, the recovery is not divided among a class, and there is no coupon at the end.
It depends on when the injury was diagnosed and when the connection to the drug was or reasonably should have been discovered, which is why a single date cannot be given here honestly. California’s discovery rules can extend the usual period in pharmaceutical cases, and other circumstances shorten it. Have the dates assessed against your actual records early.
The first conversation costs nothing, is confidential and carries no obligation. It usually runs about half an hour: which drug you took and over what period, whether it was prescribed for diabetes or for weight loss, what a clinician diagnosed, and which records already exist. If the records do not support a claim you are told that plainly and nothing further happens. If they do, the matter is taken on a contingency fee, so there is nothing to pay up front and the fee is paid out of what is recovered. If there is no recovery, no fee is owed. The fee agreement is put in writing and signed before any work starts, which is what California law requires, and the costs of running the case are explained in that same agreement.
It matters a great deal, because it can change who the defendant is. Compounded semaglutide obtained through a pharmacy, a med spa or an online clinic does not come from the manufacturers named in the MDL, and the claim may run against the compounder or the prescriber instead. Bring whatever you have: packaging, receipts, the clinic name, and the pharmacy records.
Not necessarily. What usually matters is when the injury was diagnosed and when the link to the drug was identified, rather than when you last took it. Several of these conditions are diagnosed well after a patient stops. That said, time is never on the claimant’s side, so it is worth having the dates assessed rather than assuming.
You will be asked for the specifics: the drugs, the dates, your prescribing and treating clinicians, and authorisation to collect your records. Those records are reviewed against the litigation’s criteria and you are told candidly whether the claim proceeds. If it does, it is filed and joins the coordinated proceedings, where much of what follows is common to all claimants and requires nothing from you. Quiet periods are normal, and you should expect to be told where things stand rather than having to ask.
